The Forecast Changed and So Did Thirty Evenings

Weather here moves in from the west and it moves quickly. A forecast that was confident on Sunday can be wrong by Tuesday, and mid June produced exactly that: a settled week that turned, and a run of messages asking whether a date could shift.

It can, once, at no cost, and the mechanics are worth setting out because guests consistently assume the process is harder than it is.

The one free move

Ask in the booking thread more than twenty-four hours before the booked time. Pick a new date inside the following fourteen days. With both of those satisfied, whatever was sent ahead travels across untouched and nothing is charged for the change.

That is all the rule amounts to. There is no form, no fee and no explanation required. The reason for the move is nobody's business but yours, and a forecast is as good a reason as any.

The second move

A second change of date, or a first one asked for inside the final twenty-four hours, is read on the notice scale exactly as though it were a cancellation written at that moment. Whatever the scale does not keep travels on to the new date rather than disappearing.

In practice that usually means a move asked for with more than a day in hand costs nothing even the second time, because at that notice the scale keeps nothing. A move asked for at nine in the evening for a booking at ten is a different matter, and it is measured accordingly.

Why the fourteen days

Because a date held open indefinitely is an hour nobody can use. Fourteen days is long enough to cover a rearranged trip and short enough that the time stays real. Where the new date falls outside that window, the move is still possible; it is simply read on the scale rather than treated as the free one.

Where weather stops being an ordinary reason

There is a line and it is drawn narrowly. Force majeure means transport shut down across the city, a serious disruption, or an official instruction that makes the journey impossible. In that case nothing is forfeited, what was sent becomes credit, and there is no obligation to name a replacement date immediately.

A forecast turning, a day of rain, a cold that arrived overnight, a meeting that ran long, a flight an airline moved and a decision at midnight that sleep is the better plan are all on the guest's side of that line. Each of them is a move or a cancellation read on the scale, and none of them is treated as a failing.

What happened in practice

Most of the June messages were moves rather than cancellations, and most of them landed with more than a day in hand, so most of them cost nothing. A handful became later starts on the same evening instead, which is not a move at all and needs nothing beyond a line in the thread.

That last option is underused. If the evening is drifting and the booked hour no longer suits, saying so in the thread usually shifts the start rather than collapsing the booking.

What none of it changes

The arrival window stays at forty to sixty minutes across the centre. The figures stay where they are in every month, with no weather charge anywhere. Everyone in the room is twenty-one or over, and what a session includes is decided by your therapist at the start of the visit.

A shorter answer for most cases

Before reaching for a move at all, it is worth checking whether the thing you actually want is a different start time on the same evening. That is not a change of date, it carries none of the rules above, and it needs nothing more than a line in the thread while the hour is still open.

A surprising proportion of the June messages resolved that way. The forecast had turned, the plan for the earlier part of the evening had collapsed, and what the guest wanted was the same booking two hours sooner rather than a different night altogether. Saying so plainly is faster than working through the scale, and in most cases it is the whole of the solution.
